St. James School, Red Bank, celebrated its 2018 National Blue Ribbon of Excellence Award Nov. 16 with a Mass and procession that included students, parents, families, former and current faculty and principals, donors, and members of the PTA, Royal Fathers Club and athletic association.

St. James was one of five schools in the Diocese to be named a winner of the 2018 National Blue Ribbon Award from the U.S. Department of Education. The National Blue Ribbon award affirms the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating a safe and welcoming school that challenges and educates students.

“It is a very exciting time in the history of St. James, I am proud to be part of our school family,” said Kira Nelsen, a kindergarten teacher and a St. James School alumni. “I have always known that we are a great school, but it’s nice to have that national recognition.”
